Services

Vehicle Recovery, Transport & Automotive Services

Recovery and transport are what SV Transport does first. Mechanical repairs are available for vehicles that need work once they've been recovered.

Recovery &
Transport Services

The core of SV Transport. Contact SV Transport to discuss your vehicle recovery or transport requirements.

Car Recovery

If your car can't be driven, for whatever reason, SV Transport can discuss recovering it and taking it where it needs to go. That might be your home, a garage of your choice, or SV Transport's own workshop if it needs repair.

Every recovery is different, so the quickest way to get things moving is to call or WhatsApp with the details.

  • Cars that won't start or can't be driven
  • Recovery to home, a garage or our workshop
  • Arranged by phone or WhatsApp

Vehicle Recovery

Not every vehicle that needs recovering is an everyday car. SV Transport takes enquiries about recovering a range of vehicles, from non-runners sitting on a drive to classic and project cars.

Tell us exactly what the vehicle is, its size and its condition so we can confirm whether we can help and how.

  • Non-runners and stored vehicles
  • Classic and project cars
  • Contact us to confirm your vehicle

Breakdown Recovery

If your vehicle has broken down at home, at work or at the roadside, get in touch to discuss recovering it. Let us know where the vehicle is, what happened and whether it's in a safe place.

If you have broken down somewhere unsafe, get yourself and any passengers to safety first. On a motorway, leave the vehicle and wait behind the barrier if it's safe to do so.

  • Broken down at home, work or the roadside
  • Share your location pin on WhatsApp
  • Option to repair the fault afterwards

Accident / Crash Vehicle Recovery

A vehicle that's been in a collision often can't be driven, even if the damage looks minor. SV Transport takes enquiries about recovering vehicles after an accident and moving them somewhere secure.

If anyone is hurt, or the vehicle is causing a hazard, call 999 first. Once everyone is safe, contact SV Transport with the vehicle's location and condition.

Damaged Vehicle Recovery

Some vehicles aren't in an accident but still can't be driven safely: flood or fire damage, a failed engine, suspension or wheel damage, or a car that's been off the road for a long time.

Describe the damage when you get in touch, and say whether the vehicle rolls, steers and brakes. Photos make it much easier to plan the recovery.

  • Vehicles that are unsafe to drive
  • Tell us if it rolls, steers and brakes
  • Photos help us plan

Vehicle Transport

Vehicle transport is for cars that need to be moved without being driven: a car you've just bought, a non-runner, a vehicle that isn't taxed or insured for the road, or one you'd rather not add miles to.

Send the collection and delivery locations and your preferred timing, and SV Transport can talk through the arrangements.

  • Moving cars without driving them
  • Purchases, non-runners and project cars
  • Arranged around your timing where possible

Vehicle Collection & Delivery

Need a vehicle collected from one address and delivered to another? SV Transport can discuss collection and delivery arrangements, whether that's to or from a garage, a seller, a storage location or your home.

Let us know both addresses, who will be there to hand over the vehicle, and any access issues such as narrow lanes or low clearance.

  • Collection from one address, delivery to another
  • To or from garages, sellers or storage
  • Tell us about any access restrictions

Recovery-to-Repair Support

This is where SV Transport is different. When a recovered vehicle needs mechanical work, it can be brought to SV Transport for inspection and, where required, repair.

Recover, transport, inspect, repair if required. One business, one point of contact, and nothing goes ahead without being discussed with you first.

  • Recover, transport, inspect, repair if required
  • One point of contact throughout
  • Work discussed with you before it starts

  2. TransportMoved where it needs to go
  3. InspectChecked if there's a fault

Mechanical
Repair Services

After recovery, SV Transport can also assist with mechanical repair requirements where required.

Prices and timescales depend on the vehicle and the work involved, and not every repair is possible on every vehicle, so each job starts with a conversation.

Timing Belt Replacement

The timing belt keeps the crankshaft and camshafts turning in step, so the valves open and close at the right moment. Belts are made of reinforced rubber and wear out with both age and mileage.

Each manufacturer sets a replacement interval for its engines. On many engines a belt that snaps can let the pistons hit the valves, causing serious and expensive damage, so replacing it on time matters.

When enquiring: Send the make, model, year, engine size and mileage, and when the belt was last changed if you know.

Timing Chain Replacement

Some engines use a metal timing chain instead of a belt. Chains are designed to last longer, but they can stretch and their tensioners and guides can wear.

Common warning signs include a rattle from the engine, particularly on a cold start, poor running or an engine warning light. A worn chain affects engine timing and should be looked at before it causes further damage.

When enquiring: Tell us what you're hearing or seeing, along with the vehicle's make, model, year and engine.

Clutch Replacement

The clutch connects the engine to the gearbox and, like brakes, wears with use. How long it lasts depends heavily on the vehicle and how it's driven.

Signs of a worn clutch include the engine revs rising without the car speeding up (slipping), a biting point that's very high, difficulty selecting gears, a burning smell, or noises when the pedal is pressed.

When enquiring: Describe the symptoms and send the vehicle's make, model and year to enquire about inspection or replacement.

Engine Replacement

Engine replacement is major mechanical work, usually considered when an engine has failed or the cost of repairing it doesn't make sense.

Whether it's the right option depends on the vehicle, the engine and what's available, so it starts with a conversation about your car and what has happened to it.

When enquiring: Provide the vehicle make, model, year, registration and engine details (size and engine code if you have it).

Crash Damage Repairs

SV Transport receives enquiries about vehicles that have suffered crash or accident damage. Because SV Transport also recovers vehicles, a damaged car can be collected and the repair discussed in one place.

The extent of any repair depends on the damage, so the first step is understanding what has happened to the vehicle.

When enquiring: Send clear photos of the damage on WhatsApp, along with the vehicle's make, model and registration.

Engine Servicing

Regular servicing is one of the simplest ways to keep an engine healthy and catch small problems before they turn into breakdowns.

Your vehicle's manufacturer sets a service schedule based on time and mileage. Contact SV Transport to discuss the servicing your vehicle needs.

When enquiring: Tell us the make, model, year and mileage, and when the vehicle was last serviced.

Not sure which service you need?

Describe the vehicle and the problem. SV Transport will tell you whether it's a recovery, a transport job, a repair, or all three.
